Canon Announces New DSLRs: T3i and T3

Canon announced release plans for their two latest DSLRs, Canon EOS Rebel T3i (600D outside of the US) and Canon EOS Rebel T3 (1100D).

The successor to the Rebel T2i, the T3i features the same fold out view screen as the 60D, an 18 megapixel CMOS sensor, 1080p video and an HD sensor crop digital zoom. The sensor crop takes a page out of the Panasonic Lumix GH2 book, which features a similar tool. Essentially (assuming it works like the GH2,) your zoom no longer effects light loss. These are some great additions to the Rebel family.

The T3 is the lower shelf model. It features 720p video, a 12.2 megapixel sensor and a Beginner+ mode.

The T3i will retail for $799 (body only) and together with the new EF-S 18-55mm f/3.5-5.6 II zoom lens, the T3 will cost $599. Both should be available in March.
