Google announced the long expected death of Google Video. Starting April 29th, they will no longer host content. Even though they stopped allowing users to upload videos in May of 2009, the site continued playing videos. Google has asked people to download their videos and re-upload them to YouTube.
Streaming video has come a long from its humble beginnings in the mid 2000s. I’ll always remember the battle between YouTube and Google Video for streaming supremacy in 2005, ending with Google purchasing YouTube in 2006 for $1.6 billion. It was an interesting time.
